“Back to the Cinema!”

Going to the movies to see a film has become like driving cattle into a pen.  I mean really, the thrill of the movies
has become a gilded, glorified experience full of gimmicks.  And these days quality is far and in between.  This
month do not hesitate to experience the movies as they were intended, at Criterion Cinemas in downtown New
Haven.  The only theatre in the area, that is dedicated to “bringing back style and elegance to the movie going
experience.”

Criterion gives audiences the opportunity to see blockbusters, independent and classic films.  As you walk into
the thoughtfully decorated lobby, with a mural tribute to America’s Hollywood stars of yesteryear, you are greeted
by a traditionally garbed usher.  The popcorn is freshly popped and the theaters are small, but contain plush
seating.

No longer do you have to watch your classic movies cut up by 60 second commercials.  At Criterion on Saturdays
stay out late for INSOMNIA THEATER at the 11:30pm show or wake up with MOVIES & MIMOSA and catch your
classics at 11am on Saturdays and Sundays.  This month the weekends are filled with melodrama and comedy
such as, Gone with the Wind (1939), Jan 9 – 10; The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), Jan 8 –
9 and Back to School (1986) with Rodney Dangerfield, Jan 15 – 16.

Enjoy your classics like they were meant to be seen, in plush seating, dim lights and uninterrupted.
